The Paddock Project has been updated with the sale of Zion's inspired painting after his visit to The Paddock in 2024. Karen Goss, the manager of this wonderful initiative was delighted to purchase it for the project.
Meanwhile back in 2024............Zion was back at his drama group and out and about at the creekside and whale watching. Zion, always helpful, set up chairs and carried equipment, showing his strength like Superman. Afterward, he joined his friends for lunch at their usual picnic spot at Torakina. Zion also sketched his worker with a magpie on her shoulder. Later, the group walked along the breakwall, cheering and punching the air in excitement as they spotted a humpback whale breach twice. They had a blast imitating whale sounds, sharing laughter. Zion, who loves jokes, also visited the Paddock Project, a local syntropic farm that employs people with disabilities and avoids chemicals or pesticides. Founded by Karen Gross, the farm is known for its iconic LOVE sign, a favorite for photographers. Zion has been invited to contribute his painting skills to the Paddock.
The Paddock Project proudly supports social engagement and supported employment for people with NDIS packages. NDIS funding can be used to provide tailored support packages to assist with volunteer programs, transition to work, employment and social participation activities for people who need extra help to achieve their goals. This includes Core Supports and School Leaver Employment Support programs which are offered to young people who have recently left school and need additional support to learn skills to transition to work.
Syntropic Agriculture helps the farmer replicate and accelerate the natural processes of ecological succession and stratification, giving each plant the ideal conditions for its development, placing each one in their “just right” position in space (strata) and in time (succession). It is process-based agriculture, rather than input-based. In that way, the harvest is seen as a side effect of ecosystem regeneration, or vice versa.
Back home, he is now working on a family portrait called Paradise Pool
