Zion took to the stage with his peers from the inclusive theatre group Drama-All-Sorts, performing their latest play, Sunscreen. As always he shone in his role. This delightful comedy captured the quirky essence of life in the Byron Shire, complete with larger-than-life characters: a guru, a yogi, a gym junkie, a fortune teller, and more. Set against backdrops of a 'sick' surfing competition, complete with a surfing shark, mayhem at the Crabby Dolphin Café, and a hilarious police blue light disco, Sunscreen brought a unique blend of laughter, storytelling, and heart.
Described as Grease meets Home and Away, the play also wove in a tender love story amidst the high-energy antics. The cast's spirited dancing and comedic timing left the audience grinning from ear to ear, proving that creativity thrives when abilities are celebrated inclusively.
Zion's contributions extended beyond his on-stage performance. He played a key role in setting up props, packing down after the show, and spreading the word about the production. The next morning, Zion could be seen around Mullumbimby, enthusiastically putting up posters to promote next week’s performance.
After the show, Zion and his fellow performers gathered at the park for a celebratory lunch, basking in the joy of a job well done. Drama-All-Sorts continues to foster community, creativity, and connection, and Zion’s shining presence both on and off the stage is a testament to their incredible work. Don’t miss Sunscreen next week, 11am Wednesday 4th December —guaranteed laughs, dancing, and a feel-good experience await!
